System overview
The following system overview schematically shows which communication paths primedocs supports:
primedocs Server Apps
On the server side, primedocs consists of several components. For example, the client uses the service to synchronize its data to a central database. There are also administration tools and services that provide address data.
More information about the technical requirements and the structure can be found in Installation.
Part of the server apps is also the primedocs web, the browser-based application, which can also be integrated into Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams and the modern Microsoft Office addIns (also for macOS).
primedocs desktop - Windows Client
The primedocs desktop client is the primary way to create documents or manage templates. In addition to the main program, the installation also consists of addIns for Microsoft Office.
These addIns are used to increase productivity and provide access to primedocs features, such as profiles, text modules, e-mail signatures and more. At the same time, the AddIns are needed for template design.
Document Engine
The central component is the Document Engine, which is implemented on both the client and the server and has the following main features:
Document generation process and document functions for template-specific requirements
Document inheritance concept to avoid redundancies in style, layout and/or content templates
Template versioning to give template editors the ability to build different versions of a template
