Installation
primedocs consists of several components, which can be divided into two categories:
On the one hand the server-side applications and on the other hand the Windows client with the Office AddIns.
Server-side applications
On the server side, primedocs stores all its data in an SQL database. This data is made available to the Windows client for synchronization through an API service. In addition to this service, there are a number of other components. All server applications are listed below:
IIS web applications:
DataSourceAdminApp: The DataSourceAdmin, the so-called Dashboard, is a tool for system administrators and serves as support during the operation of primedocs. In the dashboard data can be viewed, templates and text modules can be imported or exported, and statistics can be displayed.
AdminApp: planned With the Admin app administrative tasks, such as user and organization administration, can be performed.
AddressService: The AddressService provides the server-side query of address data.
Connect: This application, also called DCS - Document Creation Server, is responsible for server-side document generation.
HealthMonitor: The HealthMonitor checks the server-side applications for system errors, inconsistent data or faulty configurations and provides this information as an "Application Monitoring" service.
Service: The Service includes the sync service for client synchronization.
WebApi: The WebApi enables the WebClient to access the primedocs data.
App: The primedocs web app allows users to use some of the primedocs functionality using the browser.
IdS (IdentityServer): The IdentityServer is responsible for authentication through OpenID Connect / OAuth 2.0.
→ not included in the “WithoutIdS” optionIdSWindowsAuth (Windows-IdentityServer): The Windows-IdentityServer enables authentication by Windows credentials in the domain.
→ not included in the “WithoutIdS” option
Dienste oder Utilities:
JobHost: The JobHost provides data processing for primedocs, including user synchronization.
For more information about installation, see Server Installation.
Windows Client und Office AddIns
The primedocs desktop Windows client offers different functions for the normal user, for template editors and for administrators. For more information on installation, see Client Installation.
NOTE
To learn more about the operation of primedocs, read our End-User Manual.
The client retrieves the data from the primedocs service via the API service and stores it locally in a cache. If the Office AddIns are installed, they connect to the installed client.
Citrix TS/XenApp, Microsoft Terminalserver
For information on installing the client on Microsoft Terminal Servers or Citrix TS/XenApp, see Primedocs Citrix/Terminal Server Installation.
