This page explains the basic handling of templates and template groups.
Dealing with templates
As a template administrator or layout designer, you can activate the administration view.
Are you unsure whether you are a template administrator? Read this page: https://primesoft-group.atlassian.net/wiki/x/AYDf
You will then have access to (1) more or all template groups and templates and (2) a longer ribbon with additional options:
New template
In the pop-up window, select the desired template type and then create the template in the template editor.
Edit template
The currently selected template can be opened in the template editor here.
Delete template
This button deletes the currently selected template after your client is synchronized the next time.
IMPORTANT
Templates deleted in the client are deactivated in the dashboard and can therefore be restored. However, deactivated templates can also be permanently deleted in the dashboard (like when you empty your recycle bin).
If you have not been granted access to the dashboard, please contact your primedocs administrator or the primedocs support team.
Copy or Move template
In the pop-up window, you can move the previously selected template to another group or copy or duplicate, respectively, the same template (to another group). Before you click on “Copy”, give the new template a different name.
Edit groups
You can edit the groups on the left-hand side as a layout designer. To do this, click on the “Edit groups” button.
Click on "Create new group" (1) and give it a name.
The name is multilingual when using several UI languages; the "Language presented" dropdown should therefore be changed when creating a new group and the name should also be set in the other languages.
If you would like to move the created group, you can do this either (A) by dragging and dropping the group to the desired position using the left button or (B) by using the arrow buttons on the opposite right-hand side.
You can delete a template group by (C) clicking on the recycle bin.
Template up/down
This moves the selected template up or down within the group in which it is located.
Template Distribution
This button forces the distribution of all documents of the template type External file for distribution.
Importing templates into primedocs Desktop
You can easily import a Word template (a .dotx
file) into primedocs and then edit it using tools in primedocs Desktop.
To import a Word template into primedocs, create a new template by clicking on New template in the corresponding dialog.
In the template editor window that then opens, open the “Import Template Document” menu and select “Language independent” if you are only using one document language or the desired document language if you are using several document languages.
Then select the desired Word template (*.dotx
) in the File Explorer, confirm with “OK” and save the template editor by clicking on “Save” or Ctrl + S
.
Note that headers and footers are ignored by the imported document if the template is based on a layout.
